The Student Parliament represents a natural and systematic entry of the young generation into the environment of online democracy and at the same time one of the most important tools of national and international education about the importance of democratic principles for the future of society. For the first time in modern history, students are given the opportunity to create their own democratic institutions – to elect their own prime minister, form a government and create parliamentary representation. Democracy thus becomes for students not only the subject of theoretical explanation, but above all an authentic experience that they can actively shape.
This model represents a new standard of democratic education in the digital age. It systematically prepares the upcoming generation for responsible governance of public affairs, for the protection of democratic values and for conscious care of the state, society and national identity in the conditions of a rapidly changing technological environment. At the same time, it creates an inspiring framework that can be used not only at the national level, but also as a model for cooperation between states and institutions, including the member states of the European Union.
The Student Parliament is conceived as a nationwide digital platform that connects the existing local and regional student parliaments into a unified national system. This system operates through the social network Politinn, which provides a technological and communication environment for the democratic participation of the young generation. Any citizen or minor aged 15 or over can run for office, regardless of whether they have reached the age of majority, thus enabling young people to actively participate in the democratic process at an early stage of forming their civic identity.
