The mission of the International Alliance against Digital Violence is to jointly confront all forms of digital violence, prevent its spread, increase the safety of people in the digital space and protect their dignity, rights and mental and physical health. The Alliance strives to create a safer digital environment and to mobilize citizens, institutions, organizations and the public and private sector together against the growing phenomenon of digital violence.
Anyone who wants to actively participate in the prevention and combating of digital violence and its negative effects on individuals and the entire society can join the International Alliance against Digital Violence – regardless of profession, social status, political affiliation or country of origin.
The Alliance is open to citizens and users of social networks, experts, public figures, politicians, political parties and movements, non-profit organizations, civic initiatives, academic and research institutions, media, international organizations, public sector, state and local governments, private companies and other institutions and entities that share a common goal: to confront digital violence, limit its spread and protect the safety, dignity and human rights in the digital space.
Digital violence represents one of the most serious hybrid threats of the 21st century. This is not a hypothetical or future problem. Digital violence is already taking place in reality today, and its consequences affect individuals, families, population groups, public officials, institutions and entire societies. There is systematic humiliation, intimidation, blackmail, persecution, manipulation, psychological pressure and other forms of violence in the digital space. These attacks have real psychological, social, economic and societal consequences, destroying human lives and in the most serious cases leading to suicides and deaths.
Digital violence simultaneously erodes trust in society, weakens democratic institutions, and increases the vulnerability of the democratic space to coordinated hybrid action. This is precisely why it is necessary to stop perceiving digital violence as a peripheral problem of the online environment and start solving it as one of the most serious hybrid threats of the 21st century, which requires immediate, systematic and, above all, preventive protection of people, society and democracy.
